Lewis Carroll (Συγγραφέας)

Ο Lewis Carroll - φιλολογικό ψευδώνυμο του Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, γεννήθηκε στο Τσεσάιρ της Αγγλίας, το 1832. Σπούδασε μαθηματικά και κλασική φιλολογία στο Κολλέγιο Christ Church της Οξφόρδης, και χειροτονήθηκε διάκονος. Μετά το τέλος των σπουδών του, παρέμεινε στην Οξφόρδη διδάσκοντας μαθηματικά και λογική. Δεν κέρδισε όμως την παγκόσμια φήμη χάρη στην μαθηματική του ιδιοφυΐα, αλλά χάρη στο "Οι περιπέτειες της Αλίκης στη χώρα των θαυμάτων", έργο που γοήτευσε γενιές ολόκληρες κι εξακολουθεί να γοητεύει ανθρώπους κάθε ηλικίας. Το βιβλίο αυτό, γραμμένο για την μικρή Αλίκη Liddel και τις αδελφές της, πρωτοδημοσιεύτηκε το 1865. Μετά από εφτά χρόνια, ακολούθησε και το δεύτερο βιβλίο με ηρωίδα την Αλίκη: "Μέσα απ΄ τον καθρέφτη, και τι βρήκε η Αλίκη εκεί". Ο L. C. δημοσίευσε επίσης πολλές εργασίες πάνω στα μαθηματικά και λογική, ποιήματα και διηγήματα. Πέθανε στις 14 Ιανουαρίου 1898.
