The Prefecture of Rethymno is one of the four prefectures that comprise the Region of Crete. Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands. The first part of this book is about the natural environment, culture, traditions, and history of the whole of Crete. The second part contains an analytic description of the sights, historical monuments, beaches, mountains and gorges, and the towns and villages of the Prefecture of Rethymno, and suggests routes that will enable the traveller to discover this beautiful place in depth.
